We have been profoundly touched by the loss of an American hero.
Russell felt that our country was very important and at a very young age, he and his brothers joined the military during WWII. He was a ship flagman and was serving on USS Greenwood at Iwo Jima. He shared his precious memories with all who would sit and spend time with him. While the home repairs our youth volunteers provided were not complex, the real gift to him was spending time with them and and sharing his story We were privileged to come to know him. Whenever he left a gift with us he always said ” Do good. Use it where it is needed most.” And, your donation will do just that, help where it is needed the most.
Seaman Russell S. Miller served on the USS Greenwood during WWII and provided necessary support to our troops as they landed at Iwa Jima. At that same time, he proudly shared that his brother was landing on the other side of the island. They later learned they were there at the same time as our flag was raised in the infamous portrayal.
